Making an emergency transition to remote instruction? OLI may be able to help.

Fee Waivers Available for Institutions Affected by COVID-19

Moving a course online is hard, but transitioning mid-semester is harder; we at OLI are helping a number of universities, including our own colleagues at Carnegie Mellon, make the transition — we know just how challenging it is.

In light of the dramatic impact COVID-19 is having on education, we’re making all of our courseware free for affected institutions. Our OER courseware combines interactive textbooks with learning activities, assessments, and rich simulations. The materials are organized into units and modules that are aligned to learning objectives, so you can select OLI content to match your needs for the rest of the semester and plug it in to your learning management system.

OLI can help bridge some of the distance in remote teaching by providing learning analytics that you can use to identify and address your students’ misconceptions. To complement these analytics, our courses incorporate activities that ask students to assess their own learning and to share out their muddiest points.

OLI courseware can help to support you in your move to online and fill in some of the gaps created by the rapid move out of the classroom and onto the internet. You can explore our course offerings here.

Interested in adopting? Follow our quick start guide or contact us for more information. We’ll also be hosting office hours and orientation / adoption consultations to help those making the transition.

We’re one part of a larger puzzle. If you need to get more advice on transitioning online, our colleagues at CMU’s Eberly Center have prepared resources to help.  And institutions across the U.S. are sharing materials to offer more guidance and support.
