System Requirements To access this course, your system must satisfy the
following requirements: Operating SystemAn operating system capable of using the latest version of Oracle's Java 8 is required. (Non-Oracle Java implementations are not supported.) See the information at java.com to see if your operating system can run the latest version. The following systems should be able to run the latest version and are supported by OLI:
Web BrowserThe following browsers are supported for all course activities, including the LogicLab:
If you are not going to be using the LogicLab, any modern browser on a supported operating system should be sufficient for reading the text and completing non-LogicLab activities. Additional RequirementsYou must enable Java in the browser, cookies, and Javascript, and allow pop-up windows to view the course documents. Instructions on how to enable these features are below under Configuring Your Browser. A minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels is recommended for this course. Configuring Your BrowserWeb BrowserUse the links below to obtain a compatible Web Browser: CookiesCookies are required to create an account and sign in to this website. If you were able to sign in successfully, cookies are already enabled in your Web Browser. Java PluginThe LogicLab is an interactive Java applet. To be able to use the LogicLab, you must have Java installed and enabled. The Java plugin can be downloaded from http://www.java.com/download/. You can verify that you have the correct version of Java installed and enabled by visiting java.com, clicking on the "Verify Java version" link, and following the instructions. This site has up-to-date instructions to help you get Java 8 working in your browser. JavaScriptTo enable JavaScript in Firefox, click the Tools menu and select Options (Firefox menu on Macs). Select the category labeled Content. Check the box labeled "Enable JavaScript". Press the "OK" button at the bottom of the window. To enable JavaScript in Safari, click the "Safari" menu and select "Preferences...". Select the category labeled "Security". Check the box labeled "Enable JavaScript". Press the OK button at the bottom of the window. Adobe Flash PluginSome of the learning activities in this course are interactive Flash activities. To be able to use these activities, you must have the Flash plugin installed and enabled. The Flash plugin can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer. Popup WindowsIf you have configured your web browser to block popup windows or if you have installed any utility program which blocks popup windows, you will not be able to access all areas of this course. To determine if popup windows are enabled in your Web Browser, Test Your System. If a new window opens, then popup windows are enabled.
