If we think of students’ learning in a course like traveling on a journey, learning objectives specify the destination so we can guide students along a productive path. Without a specific destination in mind, we risk students wasting a lot of time meandering or ending up in the wrong place. The clearer the destination, the better we can design learning experiences to help students reach it.

In other words, learning objectives are clear and precisely stated descriptions of what learners should be able to do by the end of a piece of instruction.

Join us for this presentation to learn how to draft, analyze, and refine learning objectives so they meet key features of an effective objective.
